Back in August, Tesla introduced the Model S P100D with Ludicrous mode, which holds the distinction of being the quickest production car in the world, accelerating from 0-60mph in just 2.5 seconds!
But in a recent tweet, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that a software update coming next month would shave some time off of the P100D’s already impressive 0-60 and 1/4 mile times:
Looks like the Model S P100D Easter egg will allow it to do 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 sec and a 10.6 sec 1/4 mile via software update next month

Wow, that’s quite the Easter egg! And that’s the great thing about Tesla’s, thanks to these software updates, you can go to sleep one night with a normal car, and wake up the next morning to find out your car is now self-driving. How cool is that?!
As for those new performance numbers, those are RIDICULOUSLY fast, especially for a four-door sedan that can haul five passengers. The fastest I’ve ever done is 0-60 in 2.9s in a 2015 Porsche Turbo S, and I felt like my eyeballs were going to melt. So I can only imagine what this must be like!
Tesla Model X P100D owners will be getting a similar boost, with Musk tweeting that it would be shaving 0.1 seconds off of its 2.9-second 0-60 MPH time. Crazy..
